Filtration: Sorted. From Pipe to Fittings, Stirlings has everything for your microfiltration needs.

This Microfiltration Plant was installed at a processing plant in regional Victoria by a valued customer of Stirlings Performance Steels.

Stirlings was the proud supplier for the AS1528 316L grade material used in the project.

Food grade tube requires a complementary set of fittings. The AS 1528 suite achieves this with screwed couplings (AS1528.2), butt welding fittings (AS1528.3), and clamp liners with gaskets (AS1528.4).

Verification of leak tightness is the reason why tubing standards for carriage of fluids, e.g. AS 1528.1 or ASTM A269 or ASTM A270, all include either hydrostatic or 100% Eddy current testing.

Several factors continue to put pressure on global Stainless Steel prices.

Australia imports the majority of its Stainless Steel,  with most coming from East Asia. Various import prices have almost doubled over the past year and prices generally will likely continue to move upwards, albeit at a slower rate, at least until the first half of 2022.
The Australian market currently is a market of extremes. Supply in most states is falling well short of demand, even for local distributors, with prices increasing steadily since May. Compared to the current import prices, local stock prices are a bargain.

The Chinese government has instructed the steel industry to reduce production output in order to reduce carbon emissions. The government has introduced a tax on exports from September, resulting in manufacturers slashing their production in the second half of 2021 in order to meet these government targets.
Shipping is probably the biggest challenge for the industry at the moment. We´ve got pricing increases from the shipping lines and huge rises in container costs, which are all adding to the increase in prices.
The market is responding to consumer demand in the United States which has increased by 40% above its pre-pandemic level. Desperate importers are willing to pay high prices for goods and this has made the China to US West Coast shipping route easily the most profitable, increasing prices for the China to Australia shipping route.

In addition, snap Covid-19 lockdowns recently at Asian ports have delayed loading and unloading, causing further congestion and delays not only at the point of origin but also at destination ports. Industry experts have warned it could be 2023 before we start to see the fundamental causes of this maritime trade chaos unwind.

Stirlings are committed to being totally transparent to our loyal customers about price changes and the reasons behind these changes. We hope this summary has been helpful to your understanding, and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch!
